BURNING STAR CORE - Everyday World of Bodies

label: ultra eczema

type: 12" 33rpm

special notes: some random really limited release from belgium that i picked up at the record store randomly looking through stuff. has this huge fold out poster (that can be seen here), too. not much info outside that.

JESU - Jesu

label: hydra head

type: 2x12" 33rpm

special notes: a marvel to behold. two picture disks (which are hard to tell apart in terms of which is side 1, 2, etc) and so on. the real buying point is the fact that this is a totally different album than the CD version. The mix is completely different than the standard CD version and generates a completely different experience. The songs are the same, but from a production standpoint they couldn't be farther apart. i believe it is a japanese LP but other than that i don't know much about the origins of the mix.

SPIRITUALIZED - Let it Come Down

label: arista

type: 2x12" 33rpm

special notes: cover slightly different than pictured. artist/album name below the girl's head and there's no column on the side. pretty minimal overall, but not a surprise coming from spiritualized.

CONVERGE - Petitioning Forever

label: deathwish

type: 2x12" 33rpm

special notes: a marvel to behold. two lps, two albums: completely remastered versions of "when forever comes crashing" and "petitioning the empty sky." they sound amazing, the gatefold packaging with new art (i believe it's either jacob bannon or aaron turner's work) is great as well. colored vinyl: one lp is red and the other is blue; limited pressing of 1000. great lyrics booklet as well.

CONVERGE - No Heroes

label: epitaph / deathwish

type: 12" 33rpm

special notes: not in fact the lp cover. the lp cover has the "CONVERGE" removed and is spread out over both the front and the back of the gatefold sleeve. beautiful design from bannon. colored vinyl, of course: red with brown splatter and swirl. this is a first pressing (preordered it). limited pressing of 1000.

NEUTRAL MILK HOTEL - In the Aeroplane Over the Sea

label: merge

type: 12" 33rpm

special notes: pretty standard. great album.

THE CARS - The Cars

label: elektra

type: 12" 33rpm

special notes: for those days when you really need cars. vinyl is straight from 1978.

DAS OATH - Das Oath

label: dim mak

type: 12" 45rpm

special notes: art is totally inappropriate for the music itself. It is colored vinyl: it is white and clear and looks really awesome. I picked this up on tour, dunno how limited the pressing is.

NINE INCH NAILS - The Hand that Feeds

label: interscope

type: 12" 33rpm

special notes: great dfa remix.

THE PROMISE RING - 30 Degrees Everywhere

label: jade tree

type: 12" 33rpm

special notes: before they sucked balls. lyrics sheet included.

THESE ARMS ARE SNAKES - Easter

label: jade tree

type: 12" 33rpm

special notes: colored vinyl: translucent red with black splatter, limited pressing of 400 (it looks really awesome).

ORCHID - Chaos is Me

label: ebullition

type: 12" 45rpm

special notes: cool fold out lyrics sheet. real diy shit here.

A DAY IN BLACK AND WHITE - My Heroes Have Always Killed Cowboys

label: level plane

type: 12" 33rpm

special notes: nothing fancy. lyrics sheet inside.

THE HOPE CONSPIRACY - Endnote

label: equal vision

type: 12" 33rpm

special notes: colored vinyl: red/orange swirl. i think i read one day that this is from a pressing of just 200.

WOLF EYES - Human Animal

label: sub pop

type: 12" 33rpm

special notes: pretty standard. essential listening.

BLACK DICE - Miles of Smiles

label: dfa

type: 12" 33rpm

special notes: Record sleeve has the same cover back and front as the carboard sleeve. seems the vinyl is a bit hard to come by from my first impressions.

MONO - Memorie dal Futuro

label: vinyl films

type: 10" 33rpm

special notes: a really surprising little piece that kind of popped up out of nowhere from mono. recorded by steve albini.

YAPHET KOTTO - We Bury our Dead Alive

label: ebullition

type: 12" 33rpm

special notes: comes with a nice lyrics booklet with some good photography.

YAPHET KOTTO - The Killer Was in the Government Blankets

label: ebullition

type: 12" 33rpm

special notes: different cover art than pictured (couldn't find my version). It is screenprinted not unlike the Portraits of Past LP.

PORTRAITS OF PAST - Portraits of Past

label: ebullition

type: 12" 33rpm

special notes: classic ebullition. hard to find now of days.

OWEN - At Home With Owen

label: polyvinyl

type: 12" 33rpm

special notes: fourth in a 4 lp set of Owen albums.

OWEN - I Do Perceive.

label: polyvinyl

type: 12" 33rpm

special notes: third in a 4 lp set of Owen albums.

OWEN - No Good for No One Now

label: polyvinyl

type: 12" 33rpm

special notes: second in a 4 lp set of Owen albums.

OWEN - Owen

label: polyvinyl

type: 12" 33rpm

special notes: first in a 4 lp set of Owen albums.

ENVY - Insomniac Doze

label: temporary residence

type: 2x12" 33rpm

special notes: a massive, epic album that is immensely beautiful. i actually went mailorder for this and even after the 20th, 30th time of listening to it, it still is completely affecting. the tracks are somewhat similar, but the mix of the Japanese lyrics, the alternating screamed/spoken word vocals and the post-rock instrumentals is addicting and an unbelievable listen.

BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN - Nebraska

label: columbia

type: 12" 33rpm

special notes: another prize of mine. i love this album dearly and when i found it at the record store after weeks of coming in and seeing if the store bought it from somebody, and voila, it came. it was like 4 bucks and it's probably the best 4 bucks i've ever spent. an original pressing from 82, not a reissue.

TANGERINE DREAM - Phaedra

label: virgin

type: 12" 33rpm

special notes: a classic. totally cheesy, all yanni goes 70s, but i love it dearly.

EXCEPTER - Selfdestruction

label: fusetron 2005

type: 12" 33rpm

special notes: just something i picked up cheap at the record store. it's a great EP but not excepter's best.

BORIS - Pink

label: southern lord

type: 2x12" 33rpm

special notes: i love these southern lord releases. beautiful gatefold packaging, the LPs are colored pink, etc. the big draw is that the tracks have been rearranged and some of the tracks have been expanded relative to the CD version --- not surprisingly, it's better that way.

STARS OF THE LID - And Their Refinement of the Decline

label: kranky

type: 3x12" 33rpm

special notes: it's a long, long album. not the album cover pictured.

DEAD MACHINES - Live at Tzompantli

label: eclipse

type: 12" 33rpm

special notes: don't know much about this album, besides that's a good live performance overall. this is what forcedexposure has to say:
"The A-side was recorded at the first No Fun Festival in March 2004 (Brooklyn) and features a little comedy to start with and then things get heavy... and the second side is the very first VG Kids/Wolf Den Ypsi Street Level throwdown... our set was live on a 6-color shirt screen press and Nate brought a fog machine that blasted out the room and into the parking lot night of the VG complex... near the end you can hear people chucklin' cause its absurd.. that night was also the first "official" Sick Llama, and MI debut of Failing Lights... great night.... DM had a weird 7 small speaker set up on the heads of the press and spun it slightly for that dead-universe dying electronic creeping blast sound. Printed covers with the back cover featuring a demented John Olson collage -- killer!"

SUNN O))) + BORIS - Altar

label: southern lord, 2006

type: 3x 12" 33rpm

special notes: fucking monster of an album. beautifully designed gatefold packaging with a 16 page minibook (mini as in length, the thing is the size of the packaging itself) settled right in the middle. the LPs are colored a translucent forest green with a white swirl. worth every penny i spent on it, and it's a great album to boot.

AMPERE + SINALOA - Split Recording

label: ebullition 2006

type: 12", ampere side is 45rpm, sinaloa is 33rpm

special notes: two unbelievable bands, both sound totally different but work perfectly together. the best of western massachusetts, if you like to think that way.

AMPERE - All Our Tomorrows End Today

label: ebullition 2004

type: 10" 45rpm

special notes: currently the best screamo band in all of massachusetts. mindblowing stuff, and totally makes me happy to go to school in amherst where they reside.

KEITH JARRETT - The Köln Concert

label: ecm 1064/65

type: 2x12" 33rpm

special notes: the pride and joy of my collection. it's not rare or fancy, but it's beautiful concert and it's a pressing from 1975.

PARTS & LABOR - Mapmaker

label:
jagjaguwar, 2007
type: 12" 33rpm
special notes: nothing fancy.

PIG DESTROYER - Phantom Limb

label: relapse, 2007

type: 12" 33rpm

special notes: limited pressing of 2000, aqua colored LP.

SIGUR ROS - Ágætis byrjun

type: 2x12", 33rpm.

special notes: Nothing fancy here.

FLYING SAUCER ATTACK * ROY MONTGOMERY - "Goodbye"/"And Goodbye"/"The Whole Day"

label: vhf #26

type: 33rpm 12"

special notes: translucent red colored LP. not sure how many were pressed but it's a great little collaboration.

BURIAL CHAMBER TRIO - Burial Chamber Trio

label: southern lord, 2007

type: 33rpm 12"

special notes: Live collaboration (I believe it's a show in Israel?) between Greg Anderson of Sunn O))), Oren Ambarchi, and Attila Csihar of Mayhem. troo kvlt. This is the GREEN LP edition of the album.
